MDF stands for medium density fiberboard which is a wood product that first was made in the 1980s. It is made by breaking down wood into fibers and clumps of fibers similar to the way paper is made. These fibers are mixed up with glue and then pressed into a thick board.

Consider the placement of windows, appliances and any other item that could change the size of the cabinets so that they will fit just right. Decide how you want your doors to open, right or left side, so that they will not impede traffic in the kitchen. Check the drawer glides to be certain that the drawers are going to open easily.
