New Kitchen Designs Information

A lot of different things go into kitchen designs. You have to decide what is going to go into the kitchen in the first place.

Are you going to have a counter in the center of the kitchen for a big workspace or are you going to rely on cabinets and counter tops around the side of the room? You have to think about what sort of cabinets you want to put up or even if you want to use cabinets. Some of the more innovative kitchen designs do not use wall cabinets at all. Storage relies on the areas inside of the center counters and the counters that rim the room. Instead of cabinets on the wall, you will find windows and glassware racks, plate racks and shelves for appliances.

If you are tired of the same old kitchen design, why don’t you try something new and innovative? Consider stainless steel cabinets to match your new stainless steel appliances.

When you put in your flooring, consider wood floors or wood flooring with granite or stone surrounding the sink area. If this doesn’t appeal to you consider marble or slate tiles on your floor.

For countertops consider stainless steel with butcher block inserts for carving stations. Don’t choose laminate tops on your counters. Use ceramic or granite countertops. For real innovation, consider concrete countertops. These countertops are nearly indestructible and the color is mixed into the concrete itself and will never fade.

For lighting you can use nearly anything but recessed lighting and pendant lighting seem to be favored in the new contemporary designs.

Today’s kitchens may also include antibacterial counter tops and sinks. You can have a touch less faucet that doesn’t even have handles. You just touch any spot on the spout and it turns on.

Your kitchen doesn’t just have to be a place to cook. You can have a seating area with a small television. Let your kitchen flow into your family room and the area can share a fireplace. Be sure that your counter space allows you room for your family to have some together time. If you have the kitchen flow into the family room, you can allow for your guests to watch you cooking and gather around the counter to eat and chat as you are working.

While you are remodeling your kitchen, why not add a butler’s pantry? This area has long been present in the homes of the rich and famous. The pantry acts as a buffer between rooms and lets the servants do their work where the guests can’t see them. Then the butler picks the food up and serves it. Today you might not have a butler or servants but you don’t necessarily want your guests to see you putting the platters together. Today the room would be used to heat items in the microwave or keep things warm in chafing dishes. It’s a great place to open the wine and let it breathe and a great place to package leftovers to take home.
